Where is
Jeffersonville located?
Central Montgomery County - In the Norristown Area School district.
When was
Jeffersonville Soccer Club established?
JSC was established in 1994. While we are small in terms of club size, we are
one of the more successful clubs in the league.
Do I have to live
in Jeffersonville to Participate?
No, there are no geographical boundaries. Currently, we have children from
East Norriton, West Norriton, Norristown, Plymouth, Methacton, Springford,
Reading, Philadelphia, Collegeville, and Phoenixville.
What league does Jeffersonville compete in?
We participate in the Inter-County Soccer league which is one of the larger
soccer organizations in the country. Inter-county is comprised of over 500
soccer teams ranging in ages from U8 to Over-40.
Why travel soccer?
Travel soccer was developed to accommodate the players/parents that were
looking for more skill development, competition, and coaching then a recreation
league can offer.
Do you have
experienced coaching?
Most, if not all of our coaches have played soccer in high school and/or
college and have had several years of soccer coaching experience at many
different levels.
We also encourage our coaches to participate in coaching
clinics and certification programs.
How much travel is
involved?
A common misconception is that the travel is extensive. First, half of each
team’s ten game season is played at home, and a majority of the away games are
within a fifteen mile radius of our home field.
Where
are Jeffersonville’s home fields?
Our home field for all our teams between U8 and U10 play their games at the
corner of Burnside and Oakland in West Norrition Township at Oakland Park.
U11 and above play their home games at Norristown Area High
School off of Eagle Drive and Whitehall Road.
Is there
an age range within a team?
No, children complete within their same birth year. This again is an
advantage compared to most recreation programs that have age ranges of two and
three years. Competing with children the same age (and size) allows for
increased skill development and improved competition.
Are there tryouts?
Depending on the number of children registered for a particular team a
tryout may be necessary.
This
is my child’s first year; will he/she be behind the others?
It’s difficult to assess this without knowing the child’s individual ability
or the level of the team they will be joining. Some of our teams are newly
formed and are in lower divisions, while others have been together for several
years and are in some of the top divisions.
Does
Jeffersonville have girl’s teams?
Two years ago we established our first two all girls teams and we’re looking
to increase that number year after year. If we don’t have a girl’s team in your
daughter’s age grouping she is welcome to tryout for one the boys’ team’s in her
same age group.
Are there
different levels of competition within the league?
The divisions within the Inter-county soccer league are structured to
encourage competitive play. Each age group contains several divisions. For
example, the U9 boy’s age group contains six different divisions; the sixth
division is for newly formed teams and as you climb from one division to the
next, the level of competition increases. This again allows for individual and
team development and also allows for fair and challenging competition week after
week.
Do the teams play
year round?
Our traditional league play runs from September to November for our U8 – U15
teams and from November to December for U16 and above teams. Many of the teams
will participate in tournaments and indoor leagues throughout the year but this
is not mandatory. We recognize that children play several different sports and
we work with conflicts when possible.
When are games played
during the regular season?
All games are played on Saturday’s and Sunday’s from September through
November. A majority of the games are on Saturday.
When do practices begin
for the regular season?
Most coaches begin practicing in August. We work with vacation schedules.
What
about conflicts with school soccer?
Most of our children play for their school teams as well. The conflicts are
usually limited and the coaches will work out a plan with each individual
player.
